Product description
Elevate your ride to a new level with Wolf Tooth oval chainrings. This brand's chainrings utilize a proprietary PowerTrac design that gives you all the benefits of an oval shape, but without the awkward, uneven pedal stroke. Once you ride them, you'll wonder why you waited so long to try an oval.
Oval Chainring: Two Gears in One
Imagine an oval chainring as two chainrings combined into one. The main advantage of the oval shape is how it can change your gearing in two key phases of your pedal stroke, leveraging your body's natural biomechanics. Here's how it works:
The area of the chainring with the larger diameter engages with the chain at the optimal point during the downstroke, known as the Power Zone. If you were to visualize this on a clock face, the Power Zone would be between 1-5 and 7-11. Conversely, the Recovery Zone – again, on the clock face, between 11-1 and 5-7 – represents the weakest part of the pedal stroke, where the oval shape maximizes your efficiency. Practically, this means a 34-tooth oval chainring behaves like a 36-tooth chainring when you need maximum power, while it acts like a 32-tooth chainring when you're climbing and need reduced resistance.
Smoother Pedaling and Enhanced Traction
Wolf Tooth oval chainrings are designed to ensure smoother and more efficient pedal rotation. This directly translates to better traction due to more stable torque transfer to the rear wheel. With a Wolf Tooth oval chainring, you can harness more of your strength in the Power Zone, while pedaling with greater ease in the Recovery Zone. Get ahead of the competition and enjoy a smoother, more powerful, and more efficient ride.
