The E-ASTR is an e-bike for the rider looking for a pure riding experience with the added benefit of electrical support to make the riding more enjoyable.
Ridley have selected the lightweight TQ system for this e-bike and we managed keep the look of the bike as close as possible to the non assisted ASTR RS version. TQ have even hidden the controls and display to keep the e-system as stealthy as possible.
In addition to the light system weight the TQ drive unit is also very silent and the support level it provides is least intrusive we have ever experienced from any drive unit.
With tyre clearance up to 52mm and geometry optimised for control, agility and speed, the E-ASTR stays true to its racing roots. The natural-feeling assistance switches off smoothly above 25 km/h and provides exactly the right support when needed. A fully integrated 290 Wh battery and optional 160 Wh range extender offer plenty of range without compromising on weight or looks.
E-ASTR delivers a sporty, natural ride - with that ‘something extra’ without sacrificing compliance or control.
Technology
The natural feel of the ride
The E-ASTR delivers a driving experience so natural you hardly notice the engine. The TQ HPR40 provides support exactly when it's needed and smoothly shuts off above 25 km/h without any jerks or additional resistance. As a result, the feel of the bike remains 100% authentic - sporty, smooth and fully controlled, with just that ‘something extra’ for every challenging moment.
GEOMETRY OF PERFORMANCE
The modern geometry of the ASTR wheels is designed for maximum stability on rough terrain and at higher speeds. The 71.5° head tube angle ensures fast handling, while the steeper seat tube (74°) improves climbing performance and power transfer.
Short chainstays allow tires up to 52 mm wide to be fitted without losing acceleration response. The lower centre increases stability at high speed and the lower head height contributes to better aerodynamics. Overall, it's a modern racing geometry, ideal for ambitious gravel racers.
TIRE CLEARENCE UP TO 52 MM
The ASTR family comes with ground-breaking casing clearances: 52 mm for 1x and 47 mm for 2x configurations. This decision is based on the carefully considered vision of our developers. They foresaw the growing demands of gravel racing and riders' desire for more grip, stability and versatility.
This places ASTR among the category-leading innovators who are inspiring and defining what gravel really means.
Drive unit TQ HPR40
The E-ASTR is powered by the new TQ HPR40 - the lightest and most compact unit on the market. At just 1.2 kg (motor) and 1.42 kg (battery), it offers near silent operation and a responsive response that blurs the distinction between rider and motor. The motor is neatly hidden behind the gears and the battery in the frame tube for a discreet appearance.
Battery volume 290 Wh
The integrated 290 Wh battery provides more than enough power for most gravel rides. An optional 160 Wh range extender is available for extra range. As a result, the E-ASTR stays true to our philosophy: natural performance without compromise, allowing you to explore longer routes with peace of mind.
